Frank Julien grew up in a local fishing village on Nova Scotia’s rugged Eastern Shore as the son of a son of a son of a fisherman. Following the seafaring tradition, he worked in the Great Lakes shipping trade for 40 years. He is now retired and living in the quiet community of Grand Desert.
Frank is a self-taught wood carver, since about age 8. He has learned the art of applied knots and rope work during his sailing career.
He recently added stone carving as a different medium. Most of Franks work is marine related reflecting his heritage and ties to the sea.
