Gloria Dunbar was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1951. After high school she studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design for four years, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in ceramics and a degree in Art Education.
Gloria’s first pottery studio was in Sambro Creek and after that she moved to her current home in 1983, to her studio by the sea in Lawrencetown. The ocean is a constant inspiration and is reflected in the blue and green colours that dominate her glazes.
All of her pots are functional and are developed as vessels to present and showcase food in the most pleasing way. The pottery is oven, dishwasher and microwave safe.
Gloria’s studio is open by appointment year-round and she hosts an Open House every November.
