The Old School Community Gathering Place is located in the rural village of
Musquodoboit Harbour, NS. Our mission statement is to
foster a vibrant inclusive community by providing programs and services that promote
the health, well-being, and community spirit of all people in Musquodoboit Harbour and surrounding areas. This not-for-profit co-operative is housed in a heritage building
built in 1924 and was formerly a community school. The building is wheelchair
accessible via an outdoor ramp with a wheelchair accessible washroom. Wi-Fi is available free of charge for public use.
The Old School Community Gathering Place is a well-established, long-time cornerstone of the Eastern Shore region spanning from Lake Echo/East Lawrencetown east to Ecum Secum and north to Middle and Upper Musquodoboit Valley. We provide support and accessible programming to an intergenerational audience such as a federally funded youth employment program, housing support, weekly community meals, a food pantry, a community garden, Fiber Friends and a dance therapy program for seniors. We are celebrated as a 2SLGBTQ+ safe space, fostering inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility.
Funding for The Old School comes from membership fees, donations, fund raising, and grants and contracts for which we apply and compete. Please explore our programming through our website, contact us or simply drop by to learn more about what we do, how we can help, or how you can help us and others in our community.
