PROGRAMMING & SERVICES
The programming we offer at the Old School is built around the needs of residents in Musquodoboit Harbour and the surrounding communities. In the past few years we have received funding to offer programming benefiting an inter-generational audience, from our youth employability program (YESS), to movement therapy, Enhance Through Dance, and gardening workshops in our Community Garden. Regular activities led by volunteers include: Enhance Through Dance,
Fibre Friends, Community Music Jam and Tai Chi for arthritis.

Musquodoboit Harbour Community Garden
The Old School is host to the Musquodoboit Harbour Community Garden, which supports community gardeners and contributes to food security on the Eastern Shore. Plots are distributed in late winter/early spring before gardening season begins and workshops are offered through the growing and harvesting seasons.
Planting with Jude! Video Series
Our Board C0-Chair, Karen Bradley, and our volunteer garden guru, Jude Major, produced a regular gardening video series: Planting With Jude! Here's a comprehensive list of videos they've released, from newest to oldest, with links for your viewing pleasure:

Eastern Shore Mental Health (ESMH)
The mission of ESMH is to strive to improve the quality of life of people on the Eastern Shore who are facing mental health challenges.
The group offers peer support meetings and specialized programs and services otherwise not easily accessible in our area of HRM.
Join the ESMH Facebook Group for information and inspiration!
We work closely with the Eastern Shore Musquodoboit Community Health Board (ESMCHB) on filling the gaps in mental health services available in our communities. They have developed a brochure detailing the mental health supports available to residents of the Eastern Shore and Musquodoboit Valley. Mental Wellness is Important to Everyone has valuable information on:
-
things you can do for yourself
-
things you can do to help others
-
things you can do in your community
-
tommunity resources
-
emergency help.
